Considering his decades-long post as a fashion editor at Vogue and newly appointed status as editor-in-chief of The World of Interiors, it's hardly a surprise that style icon Hamish Bowles's longtime Greenwich Village home is as glamorously fun, quirky, and colorful as his closet.
Bowles purchased the prized pre-war duplex in 2008 and spent years transforming it in his own charmingly eclectic image, draping it in bold hues and dramatic patterns, and filling it with vintage treasures and unique finds. To complement the apartment's original architectural details, such as decorative moldings and wood-burning fireplace, he tapped design friends to create custom millwork throughout the space, including the imposing built-in bookcases and a playful trompe l’oeil faux door in the dining room.
But alas, now that he's officially relocated to London, the editor is parting ways with his beloved New York property - he recently listed it on the market for a modest $2.9 million.
Bittersweet as it may be for him, it's certainly good news for buyers with a taste for maximalism!
