Iconic shoe designer and co-founder of Nine West, Vince Camuto, wasn't just passionate about footwear. Dude really loved himself some lavish real estate. In addition to a sweeping, 28-room villa in Water Mill (which was put on the market in 2018 for a cool $72 million), the late fashion mogul also owned a particularly spectacular property in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Known as "Chateau Ridge," the Normandy-style stone mansion had been home to Camuto and his wife since the early '80s, when they saved it from dilapidation and turned it into the luxurious hideaway it is today. Still owned by his family, the estate has been on and off the market since 2017, most recently listed this past May with a $26.5 million asking price. However, the struggle to find a buyer has led to it being put up for auction, with the option to buy it fully furnished, next month. That means some lucky rich person is in for quite a deal.
Spanning over 16,000 square feet across 4.66 acres, the property boasts a hidden grotto, sunken pool, tennis court, and some perfectly-manicured parterre gardens. As for the interiors? Grand hallways with carved ceilings, limestone fireplaces, furniture dating back to the 16th century, and a tea room straight out of Versailles.
