No longer is Brooklyn the cheap, subway-ride-away alternative to Manhattan. These days, life in the borough is just as expensive, if not more!

Matt Damon just put down a record $16.75 million for a new place to call home - a six-bedroom penthouse apartment at The Standish in historic Brooklyn Heights. Spanning the 11th and 12th floors, the luxury space is a whopping 6,218 square feet. The building already has quite the call sheet, with celebrity residents such as Mary Louise Parker, Lena Dunham, and Paul Giamatti - perhaps all the proof one needs that Brooklyn Heights just might be the new Tribeca?
