Before you start freaking out, no, Veselka is not closing down. Please, let us all knock on wood. Rather, it made a brief cameo in the recent trailer for Oceans 8, the new, all-female heist film starring every bad-ass lady in showbiz, including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, and (ahhh!) Bad Gal RiRi herself.
As Eater pointed out, Twitter users were quick to notice the iconic Ukrainian restaurant have its moment, though it's hardly the first time Veselka has hit the big screen (remember Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist?). In any case, the go-to East Village haunt always deserves some love, and as a New York City native and former NYU student, I feel moderately qualified to give it some. Lord knows I've spent countless post-Lit Lounge nights (turned early mornings) at the place.
