Can't find the time to jet off on a sunny getaway anytime soon? This buzzy new restaurant is bringing the beachy vacation vibes to you.
Casa Tulum recently opened down at the South Street Seaport, and, as its name suggests, the eatery is all about channeling the atmosphere of the luxe Mexican destination.
Helmed by managing partner Luis Villanueva and chef/partner Rodrigo Abrajan, the spot serves up authentic cuisine, from seafood to tacos to, of course, freshly made guacamole, hailing from Tulum and the Yucatan Peninsula.
Indulge in Lobster Ceviche, seafood empanadas, Baja Fish tacos, and mains like Cochinita Pibil (a slow roasted pork shoulder) and Pollo Borracho (pan-seared chicken with Negra Modelo butter reduction and cremini mushrooms) in a stylish space reminiscent of a chic beach resort. The Insta-worthy interiors consist of serene earth tones, light woods, and canopies of live greenery, with plush leather chairs and banquettes adding to the relaxed, upscale feel.
The beverage program, curated by industry veteran Luis Villanueva, spotlights smoky, spicy tequila and mezcal-based cocktails utilizing unique seasonal ingredients. If the food and décor don't transport you to Mexico, the drinks certainly will - especially if you stop in for Happy Hour.
