Sugar, spice and everything nice. Taste Good will be serving up its hot and savory cuisine for a sweet cause Wednesday, May 28th. Hands down one of my favorite Queens chow joints will be holding a fundraiser for the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake. The proceeds from all meals, whether they be in-house dining or take-out will be donated 100% to those in need overseas. The Thongs, the lovely little couple who both own and run the restaurant have held similar fundraisers for other causes including the World Trade Center victims.
If you have never tried Malaysian food you are in for a treat. The cuisine encompasses a wide array of colorful and exotic flavors that are sure to send your dull American tastebuds into shock. Don't be fooled by the hole in the wall facade, the meal is completely authentic (the name says it all! It tastes very good!), just like your Malaysian grandma in your past life would have made for the entire clan after slaving over the stove for hours. The Thongs are actually Malaysian and their restaurant has been reviewed by numerous publications including Time Out Magazine and the Village Voice.
Here is what I'm eating tomorrow and possibly well into the following week: (I'm licking my lips just thinking about it!)
Appetizers: Chicken Satay Malaysian Salad Rojak Crispy Bean-Curd
Platters: Beef Rendang Watercress with Belacan Sauce Singapore Curry Laksa Seafood & Bean-Curd in Casserole
Sides: Hainanese Rice and Coconut Rice (I'm not a big fan of plain rice, but I always order bowls of this)
Dessert: Rambutan Ice Drink
Why don't you put your heart where your mouth is and chow down for a good cause today. Eating never tasted so good.
