As the chaos of Fashion Week wound down, the out-and-about crowd made their way to a familiar locale - albeit one with a new name and fresh face lift - down the cobblestones of Bond Street.
Tucked into the subterranean space which formerly housed The Smile is Jac's on Bond, a chic new haunt from the Authentic Hospitality team behind Pebble Bar, Ray’s, Bar Calico, and Georgia Room. The likes of Trevor Noah and Nicholas Braun, along with a slew of style scenesters, were on hand to christen it.
With a relaxed elegance that pays homage to the landmark 1831 townhouse it calls home, Jac's sets the scene for conversation and cocktails amid its intimate nooks, cozy corners, and bistro two-tops which surround the main front bar and spread into a warm back room.
Like most of the destinations dreamed up by Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte, and Matthew Charles, Jac's brings an edge to its upscale atmosphere, boasting a billiards table as its centerpiece and walls lined with iconic hip-hop photography by Janette Beckman. The team tapped studio GACHOT for the interior design, as well as streetwear designer Angelo Baque of AWAKE NY for the employee uniforms. Downtown cool at its finest.
Culinary partners Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske of Wildair and Contra helm the menu of small plates which include meatball skewers, crispy sandwiches, and a creamsicle pie that's sure to become an Instagram favorite, while head bartender Trevor Easton Langer shakes up sophisticated cocktails highlighting unique ingredients like beets, yuzu, and even a popcorn-infused rum.
