Alta
Located in the basement of a townhouse in Greenwich village, Alta has been a staple tapas spot in this neighborhood for the past decade. From its picturesque exterior modeled after an English garden to its dim, candle-lit interiors, the restaurant exudes a sense of charm and romanticism that makes it a favorite with neighborhood locals and out-of-towners alike.
The menu consists of small plates priced from $3-$15 and is inspired by Mediterranean and Spanish flavors. Some of our favorites include the wok seared "tagliarini" of calamari with haricot verts and the crispy brussel sprouts with apples and pistachios. For the vinophiles in the group, Alta has probably one of the most well-crafted and wallet-friendly wine lists in the city, where one can find a generous selection of vintage wines well below their average price tags.
