Boqueria
Named after the famous open area market in Barcelona,
Boqueria has become a staple in the city for serious tapas enthusiasts. With one outpost in SoHo, another one in Flatiron and a location in Washington DC that opened up last year, diners have ample opportunities to get their tapas fix. At the helm of the kitchen is Marc Vidal, a Barcelona native who has created a menu inspired by both traditional Spanish fare and dishes he grew up eating in his grandmother's kitchen. Be warned, diners contend that many of the dishes, including the datiles
(dates stuffed with marcona almonds and valdeon cheese wrapped in bacon) and the patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with salsa brava and roasted garlic aioli) are borderline addictive, so don't be surprised if you end up dragging your pals here every chance you get.
The restaurant offers a convenient prix fix menu option for large parties, and at only $40 a person, it is one of the best value tasting menus in the city, with each menu tailored for the group's specific needs. The restaurant doesn't take reservations for groups under six and is known to be consistently packed, but there is a bar and cocktail area where the sangria is ever-flowing, should you have to wait for a table.
