Are luxury car brands officially taking over the hospitality landscape in NYC? Maybe, but we aren't complaining.
Joining the ranks of Cadillac, which opened the cafe, event space, and showroom Cadillac House back in 2016, Lexus has just launched their own chic new hangout in the heart of the Meatpacking District. But there isn't a car in sight.
Intersect By Lexus, a massive three-story space, aims to become a "dynamic lifestyle hub" for the well-heeled set, featuring a first-floor cafe, public gallery, and retail area, a second-floor restaurant, cocktail bar, and lounge, and a third-floor private gallery and exclusive event venue.
Designed by the acclaimed Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall, the 16,500-square-foot spot features sleek and modern interiors worthy of a 'gram or two. Also buzz-worthy is the restaurant group behind the on-site eatery: Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality. A rotating chefs-in-residence program is launching with Frenchie's Gregory Marchand, who will be working alongside year-round Executive Chef Nickolas Martinez.
The current upscale menu offerings include starters like gnocchi, burrata, and a foie gras terrine, along with indulgent mains from scallops to duck. You can even pop in for breakfast or lunch, with a daily assortment of pastries, sandwiches, and yes, an acai bowl available during the day.
Of course, there's also a fashion element. On view from November 19th to December 2nd, an exhibit showcasing The Circular Capsule Collection, unique designs from the 2017-2018 CFDA + Lexus Fashion Initiative program’s five finalists (STUDIO 189, CIENNE, WHIT, M.PATMOS, ST. ROCHE), will be open for viewing and purchasing.
