Astoria Seafood
Earlier this year, two New York restaurants were nominated in the "Best Atmosphere" category at the World Restaurant Awards: Eleven Madison Park (no surprise there) and Astoria Seafood, a hole-in-the-wall fish market turned casual dining destination complete with plastic utensils and a BYOB alcohol situation. With tile walls and mismatched wooden chairs, the spot has remained under-the-radar as one of the best-kept local secrets. Plus it's been known to host impromptu nightly dance parties.
