Good news for New York's well-heeled and well-cultured dining set: The Lambs Club is back - and it's chicer than ever.

Tucked inside a neo-Georgian brick building by legendary architect Stanford White, which is now home to the Chatwal Hotel, the locale has been a theater district staple since its inception as a clubhouse for the namesake Lambs, America’s first professional theatrical club, over a century ago. Its current iteration as a high-end eatery for New York's power-players and theater-goers opened in 2010 in a Thierry Despont-designed space full of swanky touches and now-iconic red banquettes.

The hot spot, like many others, shut its doors at the onset of the pandemic in 2020, but, much to the dismay of its stylish regulars, continued its hiatus for two years. As it turns out, the restaurant was undergoing some exciting changes. While the Art Deco interiors and beloved 18th century French limestone fireplace remain mostly the same save for a few updates, The Lambs Club now boasts a new management team and has found its new executive chef in Michael White.

Founding partner David Rabin, whose recent ventures include Sona, Veranda, and Temple Bar, has teamed up with Grand Tour Hospitality, founded by buzzy new guard restaurateur Kyle Hotchkiss Carone of American Bar and Saint Theo's fame, to run the revived mainstay. Chef Michael White, who has replaced Geoffrey Zakarian at the helm of the kitchen, marks his return to New York with a modern menu of upscale American classics, including steak tartare, pan sauteéd Dover sole, and a delicious tribute to the architect himself, the Stanford White burger, topped with raclette, pickled red onion, and dijonaise.

Of course, there's also an updated cocktail selection to go with the extensive wine list, including a cosmopolitan, espresso martini, and old school G&T. Pinkies up, people!
