If you like Henry Miller: South Korea
Henry Miller, of course! The author, yeah? Progenitor of such great (but not as widely recognized as they should be) books Tropic of Cancer and Black Spring? If you like talented underdogs who simply do not have the appeal necessary to become part of the mainstream conversation, cast your vote with South Korea. They knocked Germany out of the World Cup...but they’re still kind of blah. You’re seen as eccentric or a try-hard for claiming such an entity as your favorite because they fail to evoke emotional resonance in the majority of people. Just as Henry Miller is more famous as one half of a duo with Anaïs Nin, so too is South Korea more relevant as the counterpart to its despotic other half. At the very least, support South Korea so they’re not subject to assault by way of toffee upon their shameful return home.
