"Sex and the City"
Trailblazers: Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie),
Kim Cattrall (Samantha),
Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda)
While we may look back and write off this show as merely a fantastical portrayal of the single, pre-recession, NYC life, it's an indisputable fact that these four ladies blazed the trail for other shows with strong female casts. "Sex and the City" showed the world what women were like in their most vulnerable states, but also celebrated the advantages of being one. Each character took their own path and embraced what made them happy, whether that meant having children and getting married, or sipping on Cosmopolitans every night at hip, Downtown bars.
