Nearly seven years after saying goodbye to the Upper East Side clique that just may have defined a generation, we have confirmation that Gossip Girl will officially be returning to our TV screens.
Rumors of a reboot have been swirling for a while now, but today it's been confirmed that HBO Max, a streaming service set to debut in 2020, has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of the new series. Unfortunately, it seems that the core group at the center of the original (IMY Blair, Serena, Dan, and Chuck) will not be involved, as the resurrected show will focus on the next gen of preppy Manhattan teens, set eight years after the Gossip Girl website went dark.
Helmed by the original series writer and executive producer, Joshua Safran, "the prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed," according to Deadline.
A new Gossip Girl with an Instagram account? Sounds like drama. XOXO.
