Modern dating is the worst. Seriously, I would do anything to go back to the days of Jane Austen, when things were as simple as meeting a handsome-enough landowner at the village dance and calling it a day. Even if that did mean dying from the common cold in my 30s, at least I would have avoided years of analyzing text messages, Insta story reactions, and, to be honest, going so far as to stalk someone on Venmo (I never claimed I wasn't part of the problem).
The ease with which we can connect with new people, keep tabs on them, and then disconnect (read: discard) has opened up a whole new realm of toxic dating practices. You probably know all about "Ghosting," but these new terms prove that's only the tip of the iceberg.
