Cannes Film Festival, Day 2: A Roundup

by TIFFANY ETESSAMI · May 14, 2010

Day 2 of Cannes had the requisite glamour and glitz courtesy of Eva, Aishwarya, Dita and Carey... plus spontaneous additions of drag queens, zombies and more..

Both Eva Longoria and Aishwarya Rai have been working it in Cannes with showstopping gowns and hands-on-hips, sultry poses. But even with their sequins and mermaid cuts, they were upstaged by the one and only Dita Von Teese. When Dita is at an event, you will be upstaged in terms of extravagance - in a retro ice-blue ballgown, she looked glamorous and perfectly old-school. Classic Dita - hope she sticks around for the rest of the festival. (Oh, and there were trannies at this premiere of Tournee, which is always awesome.)

A photo call for Zombie Women of Satan took place which was very un-Cannes-like, slightly creepy and decidedly disturbing, but to each his own:

What better way to get that scary image out of your head than gazing at Gael Garcia Bernal? Can't think of anything? Neither can we. Check out the heartthrob at the Camera d'Or Jury photo call. He's this year's jury president:

Fashionably late, Elizabeth Hurley looked elegant in simple white jeans and rolling Louis Vuitton luggage as she arrived at Nice airport with her husband, Arun Nayar.

One of the highlights of Day 2 was spotting adorable couple Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan together at the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps photo call. Being the private and un-Hollywood types that they are, there was no PDA, but they looked cute nonetheless. Carey was elegant, pairing a RM by Roland Mouret sheath with her signature chunky black heels, while Shia looked dapper in a silver suit (still can't believe he was Louis Stevens!).
