Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
Ok, so I’m a huge fan of Mexico — really, if there’s one country I could go back to repeatedly, never getting fatigued, it would be our southern neighbor. And while San Miguel de Allende and Oaxaca, two Spanish Colonial-style towns, are my favorite places to spend extended periods in, the country’s coastal towns and the hyper-cool boutique hotels that come with them are the perfect place to decamp to when looking to shed the hustle and bustle of back home (in my case, it’s the chaos of New York City).
Riviera Nayarit is a serene slice of coastline with untrodden beaches and a clutch of design-centric stays, including One&Only Mandarina, which boasts an intimate stock of treehouse-adjacent standalone villas with cantilevered decks and infinity pools flaunting sweeping views of the sea. To say this place is “Instagrammable” would be an understatement.
