The dougie originated in Dallas, Texas, by a member of the California Swag District. He witnessed the dance at the Texas Southern University and brought it back to southern California to include in the hit single "Teach Me How To Dougie." The dance involves a snake-like movement with a variety of hand gestures.
The Dougie has created various spin-offs, like the Cat Daddy. The Cat Daddy was made popular by Chris Brown and the Rejectz. People often refer to the cat daddy as "wheelchair stuntin," as the dance requires you to roll around like you are in a wheelchair.
