St. George's Sex Abuse Scandal
St. George, sometimes referred to as St. Gorgeous, both for the picturesque campus and beautiful students, seems to have far more sex scandals than stories of post graduate success. After decades of a stifling stigma against discussing the tragedies that many students faced from the predatory staff, the dirty laundry of the school is finally being aired. Headmasters notoriously stayed quiet and payed off a physical therapist that was raping students and a musical leader guilty of molesting students. After their attacks, the victims were often silenced and shamed by staff and a deep-rooted history of elitism. On the Rhode Island school's website they note that the preparatory academy has a "strange relationship with time," and while the school is referring to its ability for its rich traditions to prepare students for the future, we can't help but think differently.
