The Monkey Lounge
Monkey Lounge is Shanghai’s version of a speak easy-- which by definition means larger, more glamorous, and trendier than the average. You must walk through a restaurant to get inside this bar, which weeds out people that are not in the know. Upon entering you are transported to a jungle-like lounge, with a dose of unexpected exuberance. Tropical trees line the interiors, while chandeliers provide a touch of glamour. The glass ceiling gives the bar an outdoorsy feel, and playfully named bottle service options such as “Monkey Business” and “The King of Kong” keeps the night playful and light.
