The Stanley Hotel
Colorado has no shortage of haunted hotels, and the past of The Stanley is so steeped in the paranormal that unusual occurrences are a part of its history. Guests of room 217 are able to view some of this history firsthand, as it's one of the hotel's most haunted rooms. In 1911, chief housekeeper Elizabeth Wilson was cleaning room 217 when an accident led to her breaking both of her ankles. Though she didn't die in the room, guests of 217 report additional housekeeping services, such as their suitcases being unpacked or their belongings being put away, and it's said to be a work of the ever-devoted Elizabeth Wilson. It's also reported that children from years past haunt the hotel's fourth floor, often running through the halls and laughing together. Guests staying on the fourth floor have reported being mysteriously tucked-in during the night, as nannies used to do to children staying on the floor.
