The Prosperity of Burt's Bees
Established in 1991, Burt's Bees was up and running. They had increased their products to candles, soaps, perfumes, and - the product we all love the most - lip balm.
Unfortunately, Burt and Roxanne began having difficulties in their partnership that prompted Quimby to threaten to sue Shavitz in 1993, and ultimately forced him out of the business.
By 1998, Burt's Bees could be found at approximately 4,000 different locations across the United States
By 2007, Burt's Bees had increased their sales and store locations immensely. They increased their types of products and the company had become recognized worldwide. As a result, Clorox bought out the company for close to $1 billion dollars, and Shavitz was given only, by Quimby, a $130,000 estate in Maine.
