In case you missed it, celebrity couple-slash-walking embodiment of PDA, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker tied the knot (for the third time!) over the weekend in Portofino, Italy. And while the over-the-top affair was exactly what we'd come to expect from a Kardashian, the wedding was a surprise exercise in celebrity sponsorship deals.

From the family that shills makeup, diet products, and shape wear for thousands of dollars per IG post, comes the future of #sponcon: a completely brand-endorsed wedding.

Using FTC-approved wording, Kourtney and Travis's lavish nuptials were "hosted" by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. And by "hosted," we're talking branded curation from the bride's lingerie-inspired ceremony dress and dramatic veil, to her mother and sisters' ensembles, to the décor of the wooden speedboats that transported guests to the ceremony, held at Villa Olivetta, a home on the estate of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Even the altar was decked out in gilded religious ornaments by Alta Moda Dolce & Gabbana.

To really drive the point home, they even had Kris Jenner post about the brand's pop-up store.

Now, let's examine this.

Besides the overall tackiness of using your wedding day as a promotional partnership deal (do these people even wipe their ass for free?), to do it with Dolce & Gabbana, of all brands, is messy on all fronts. For one, the designers have a long history of racism, homophobia, and generally offensive behavior. If anyone in the fashion world deserves "cancellation," they're long overdue.

But if all that wasn't enough to dissuade Kourtney from taking on the deal, one would imagine that she would draw the line at insulting her own family. Just a few years ago, Stefano was called out for commenting on a photo of Kris, Kylie, Kendall, and Kim, calling them "the most cheap people in the world."

Ironically enough, Kourtney may have proven his point by turning her marriage into a #sponsored spectacle, aiding in the label's big distraction campaign, just to avoid writing any of her own checks.
