While Montauk may now be the fashionable LIRR stop du jour - each summer weekend filling with fedora straw hat toting, espadrille wearing, Surf Lodge line standing Manhattanites - its OG surf community has, against all the gentrification odds, remained untouched. The biggest reason the otherwise flashless Hamptons town has remained so appealing to city slickers.
Montauk native Austin Avery Eckardt is just one of those chill locals who's kept Long Island's End true to its roots. This summer, the pro surfer will return to set up shop on Ditch Plains with Austin's Surf Camp.
From coaching sessions that will have you in tip top surf shape, to paddle board tours, and a daily surf camp so fun it will have any kid jumping out of bed in the morning, there's something for everyone - even the most novice, balance-less among you. Go with a group, grab a private lesson, even sign up for a Girls Surf Camp with East End superstar Quincy Davis! They'll bring the boards and wetsuits, all you've got to do is show up, prepare for some real Montauk fun, and of course, not forget to leave the beach without stopping over at The Ditch Witch.
