Hot pants, graphic T's, vodka-Red Bulls and electro beats filled Cinespace last night at Dim Mak Tuesdays' M.I.A. album listening party. Although many of those in attendance probably do have M.I.A. tracks on their current playlist, the night was less about her new album, and more about DJ sets by Dillon Francis, getting low and making sure no one was cocktailless for a period exceeding 10 minutes.
At Steve Aoki's label residency, guests grooved to the DJ stylings of Them Jeans and Dan Oh, but really went off when Dillon Francis took to the turntables to spin his electro/dub dance mix. The spin master had the crowd bumping so hard that partiers nearly toppled the DJ booth.
Raging like that can be a real workout so it's a good thing the hot dog man had his little cart stationed right outside to nourish the drunken masses with some hearty nitrates and grease.
