Between his front row Fashion Week appearances and late nights of high-rolling, Fabián fascinated the society set, and the society pages, playing up his rich kid persona despite being seen as an obnoxious arriveste by established members of the city's upper echelon. 

There were countless profiles penned on him, from the Observer to the Washington Post, in which he frequently expressed a distaste for employment. He called his brief six-month stint in the investment banking world "not very glamorous," and said he quit because "the lunch places that they wanted to go were just too boring."
