Opening: Al Held, “Alphabet Paintings”
Cheim & Read presents a series of seven large-scale alphabet paintings created by the late New York Abstract expressionist artist Al Held. Essayist Robert Storr, whose writing is featured in an accompanying catalog of 20 works, notes that the paintings’ hard-edge style and geometric forms result in “an almost sculptural presence” that engulfs the viewer in their massive presence.
Opening: Thursday, February 28, 6-8pm
Dates: February 28 – April 30
Location: Cheim & Read, 547 West 25th Street
