It's easy to get caught up in the July 4th madness and stack the calories on top of carbs on top of fat, but let's take a step back and remember we are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. Step one is to eat right, even if that means finding alternatives to the main meals that sometimes make holidays special. This weekend will be full of barbecues, hot dogs, apple pie, and enough bread to feed a village. It's time to substitute old favorites for new ones, and start healthy traditions that will last generations.
