Fall 2014: Bacchanal
The drink: Elijah Craig bourbon, five spice honey, pumpkin purée, fresh lemon, egg white, pumpkin ale, nutmeg, star anise if the bartender’s feeling fancy
Two for you, Glen Coco. Naren kills it again with this star anise-studded glass of seasonal perfection, paying homage to the turning leaves with a fleeting cocktail on an already impressive roster. “It’s definitely probably one of the most ambitious cocktail lists in America for a restaurant for sure,” notes Young. “I get shit about it from my owners about it on a daily basis.” We’d expect nothing less. Bourbon becomes intriguingly decadent when paired with the various textures and flavors of Young’s autumnal brainchild. Kick the basic pumpkin spice everything to the curb and get down with this burnt sienna-hued beauty before it’s gone.
