Ironically enough, there's no shortage of "speakeasies" New Yorkers know all about, but the novelty of a "hidden" watering hole never seems to go out of style. Not that we're complaining about it - who doesn't love feeling like they've been let in on a (boozy) secret?
The latest haunt on the clandestine cocktail scene comes from local favorite Evil Twin Brewing. The nanobrewery beloved for its beer and Twin Peaks-themed coffee shop has reopened a speakeasy-style bar at its taproom in Ridgewood.
Selma's Bar, named for head bartender Selma Slabiak, first made its debut in March 2020 but was forced to stop operating just weeks later due to COVID restrictions. Now, the funky 24-seat space located behind a discreet door is back in business, complete with dive bar vibes, eclectic décor, and, a bathroom that also channels Twin Peaks. Hello, Instagram?
Guests can expect strong seasonal sips and, hopefully, the return of some of Selma's colorful frozen slushie cocktails.
See you there - if you can find it!
