A Tokyo-inspired destination with a New York City edge - that's the gist of GG Tokyo, a new all-in-one in NoMad for creative cocktails, Japanese bites, and live music.
Tucked inside the Park South Hotel, the restaurant and lounge is the brainchild of TH/RST Group's Nick Bathurst, Dennis Konen, and Brian Kelly along with Executive Chef Bryce Shuman, who worked closely with a Shuko alum to develop the menu's core Japanese flavors and ingredients.
The namesake "GG" refers to Tokyo's Golden Gai district, a bustling nightlife area packed with bars and eateries. At this sleek new spot, which boasts neon-lit mermaids, art installations, and murals, you can expect the same lively experience.
In addition to upscale bites like Wagyu sashimi, tuna tartare, urchin rolls, and Japanese fried chicken, guests can indulge in innovative cocktails from bar manager Ivan Papic, whose beverage program includes The Golden Monkey (Toki whisky, Giffard Banane du Brésil, lemon, pandan leaf, egg white), The Guchi (shiitake-infused Luksusowa vodka and soju), and The Ceremony (mizu shochu, matcha-oat syrup, lemon, peychaud bitter), which is served in a ceramic tea kettle for two.
And yes, it gets better. Those looking for an extra-special experience can keep an eye on GG Tokyo's upcoming lineup of DJs and live performances throughout the week, which are all free and feature a selection of late-night ramen to go with your sips. Upcoming artists include Jaron Paul Jones, FKAjazz, Sam Hysell, and HUTS, along with a few surprise guests.
