In my 40 years as a New Yorker, I have learned that New York by nature is a tenacious and resilient place. Even at the start of the pandemic, while I and many other nightlife and hospitality professionals were going through the mental and emotional process of losing everything, I was grateful for New York's attitude, culture, and innovation.
After bars and restaurants shuttered, we used this resilient mindset to create SAVOUR, an app where guests can book former restaurant chefs for private dinners at their own homes. I think in the future, hospitality workers in NYC will be better equipped to bring the joy of a "night out" experience at home, in an efficient, safe, and authentic way through the growth of new humane technologies. Our city is strong and our future is brighter than we think.
