The short answer is: yes, nightlife is coming back. As much as we don't want to admit it, there was a whole lot of creative, covert partying going on in NYC this past year. On rooftops, under bridges, at restaurants and bars after hours — there's clearly still an appetite for partying. That's why I think things will come back with a vengeance, especially now that more folks are getting vaccinated. There's a sense that the end is in sight.

That said, I think there is a generation coming of age now that is missing those quintessential experiences of standing outside in line night after night at a tough door to earn a place inside, or seeing different groups of friends at your favorite restaurant and then merging into one big crew to pull up to the same club. Preserving the integrity of these NYC nightlife rituals will be important, especially as venues and experiences become increasingly over-branded and curated. We don't want our clubs to be boring!
