A year in lockdown calls for at least a solid few years of partying! We all need an escape from reality. I believe NYC nightlife will spring back when venues can open again to full capacity. Also, I think membership clubs will become more popular and frequent. While I know some people have been attending mask-less raves and not giving two fucks about CDC guidelines, a lot of folks are going to feel wary and hesitant of attending a larger event, especially if it is maskless and they don’t know most of the guests. Membership clubs might provide a sense of security since they can keep better track of the clientele.
I can see a system in the beginning stages of reopening where a guest would need to show a vaccination card or take a rapid test to get into the party. I like the idea of pop-ups in well ventilated warehouses or even a parking garage for added spontaneity. Any event that is sort of secret, mysterious, and always moving locations would definitely attract my attention. Brooklyn venues should take advantage of the larger square footage as I think New Yorkers won’t complain about crossing the bridge for the right party.
I am so ready to work with my clients like 1OAK on curating special nights for all of us who have been missing the energy of dancing, live music and late night debauchery. I mean, I’m not a “let’s do tequila shots” girl but I’m 100% ready to do tequila shots ;)
