Deryck Todd, Creative Producer
I'm kissing the kids on the cheek, booking the talent, signing the checks and watching the bodies writhe under the disco ball and poof, it was gone in a blink. During the height of the lockdown I produced a select few virtual events including She's A Riot and - was nice to see everyone in real time again, even if through a pixelated Zoom.
A comeback - patience is simply more than learning to just wait. It is learning what your time is worth. And simply put, we're not there yet. I'm lucky enough to have had the vaccine, but it's not time to have the glorious, dark, insane and hilarious world of nightlife emerge, just yet. There is a light - I can see it. I can taste it. I can smell it (wear some deodorant!). Perhaps it will be Fall 2021, or Spring 2022. I'm taking this one damn day at a time. Let's get everyone safely through this - to be a part of the solution, and not the trauma.
We played Dungeons and Dragons in our mom's basement every Friday night. We've sexted a Tinder love interest until our fingers bleed. We've said good riddance to the worst President of our time. And too many said so long to loved ones. Be patient, the roaring '20s will soon be upon us.
