Sours at Home
If you can’t get yourself out of the house, there are other ways of experiencing sour beers. On the way home from work, pick up any tall bottle from the Cascade Brewing Barrel House. They are the masters of brewing the delicious and tart sour beers. Each beer is usually mixed with different types of fruits. The “Figaro,” is a powerful blond ale that takes approximately two years to brew. The brew is put into chardonnay barrels for twelve months, in order to extract an oaky and acidic taste. It is then aged for an additional year with figs and lemon peels, adding a subtle sweetness and other sour notes to the ale. Any of the sour ales from the Cascade Brewing Barrel House are a perfect choice for the beer lover who wants to skip the bar but not the brew.
