You don't necessarily need to consider yourself a whiskey enthusiast to enjoy an evening at the Parlour Room, but you'll certainly be one by the time you leave.

The sprawling new bar and eatery is the latest Garment District hot spot from the Ragtrader's Mark Fox, located just next door in a former factory-turned-elegant cocktail den. Complete with a mezzanine, the 180-seat haunt is separated into various nooks for dining and imbibing, with an impressive copper bar and crystal chandelier at its center.

Even more impressive, though, is its epic whiskey library. Featuring more than 400 types of whiskey, from the rare and imported to the locally produced, the Parlour Room in itself is practically a love letter to the golden spirit. Individual pours are available as are flights and a special "whiskey passport," a $275 option that gives patrons the chance to try 10 fancy sips from the bar's curated list.

For the not-so-neat drinkers, there are, of course, plenty of cocktails to choose from, both whiskey-based and not. The Gatsby Royale, for example, is made with Effen Yuzu Vodka, house-made pear and apple cider cordial, and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne. Order one (or six) to see the bar's custom-made hand-cranked shaker in action.

And, since you can't spend the night sipping whiskey on an empty stomach, the Parlour Room also serves up a full menu of bites, from oysters and caviar to lobster mac n' cheese and filet mignon. We'd drink to that.
