Up&Down
Overview: Up&Down is the new club in the former Darby space. The 'Up' portion has a large dancefloor and an elevated seating area, while 'Down' is a dimly lit lounge, with artwork across the walls, leather couches, and a pool table. During the Galore NYFW party, we caught up with Butter Group co-owner Richie Akiva who gave a faithful description of the club:
"This whole place is like a wonderland, where everyone mixes and matches, and picks what room they like the best, what music and what vibe they like the best. It's kind of like a throwback to that old school genre of clubs, where you have all these different cultures, and all these different groups of people. All these different scenes of New York, all in one building. And it's free flowing, there's no private rooms, no VIP area, nothing like that."
Location: 244 W 14th St
Team: Richie Akiva, Scott Sartiano, Ronnie Madra with Evan Frost, Michael Goldberg, Eamon Kelly, Parker Lieberman, Ronnie Flynn, Vance Brooking (Butter Group)
Insider's Scorecard: No venue dominated NYFW like Up&Down. Following their star-studded opening weekend with guests including Miranda Kerr, Hayden Christensen, Macklemore, and Kate Upton, the bi-level club went on to host NYFW after-parties for Rag & Bone, Prabal Gurung, Public School and Jeremy Scott. Galore also threw their huge issue launch party there, and the perennial New York New York party chose the venue as its new home.
