Surface Magazine continued their tradition of throwing parties with three key elements: adorable venue, random liquor sponsor, and lines out the door. Last night, the hipsters mingled happily through the racks at Operations on Mercer Street, where the beautifully detailed coats and blazers at a recession-tastic 70% off for the evening--even handsome young retailers like Matteo Gottardi have to eat--were practically conservative next to the Alexander Wang ensemble flashing flesh next to you.

Beatrice's own Rian Fossett spun like an angel over the crowd (will all chic downtown boutiques forever more have to be built with DJ booths?) while boys in black served up whiskey punch. We ran into a pair of Scallywags making nice with models by the door as we headed out onto the cobblestones, passing crowds of perfect button noses and disheveled blonde hair pressed up against the glass.
