Jayne Wrightsman's grand apartment at 820 Fifth Avenue is legendary. A world unto itself elegantly bursting with the socialite, patron and connoisseur's collection of Old Master paintings, sculptures, European furniture, Chinese ceramics, extensive silver serveware, carpets, and more.

That her husband, Charles B. Wrightsman, was a Trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (there's no way you haven't visited The Met's Wrightsman Galleries for French Decorative Arts) definitely didn't hurt her ability to amass the most impressive private collection, though her taste has been widely recognized as exquisite.

Following Mrs. Wrightsman's most unfortunate death last year at the age of 99, Christie’s is honored to present The Private Collection of Jayne Wrightsman, an auction of 210 decorative pieces from her iconic home which are now to be sold to benefit her ongoing philanthropy. And let's just say, these lots do not disappoint.
