Magnises

In 2014, the year The Rich Kids of Instagram got their own TV show, buzz around McFarland's most infamous venture (pre-Fyre, of course) began. Magnises, which revolves around a farcical black card, cashed in on the hashtaggable desire for A-list experiences and bragging rights driving so many young people with money to spare. Throw in a "tough" application process and those craving exclusivity just couldn't resist. 

In a 2014 interview with company insider Martin Howell, GofG was told that of the hundreds of applications received daily, there was only a 15-20% acceptance rate.
