Emma Hearst
She may have gotten married with a swanky celebration at the family castle, but Emma Hearst is more salt-of-the-earth than socialite. Like, literally - she runs a farm.
Not that she didn't have her time in the headlines.
The daughter of publisher George Hearst, Emma found foodie stardom in her early 20s. After studying at the Culinary Institute of America (where she met her future hubby), she earned a ton of accolades as the chef/owner of buzzy Lower East Side restaurant Sorella, which she opened in 2008. She was hailed as the hottest chef in New York and in 2011, at just 24 years old, became the youngest competitor on Iron Chef America.
Sorella has since shuttered, but Emma and her husband, John Barker, sustain their love of food right at the source. They opened Forts Ferry Farm in Latham, New York, where they grow hyper-seasonal heirloom produce that ends up in farm-to-table dishes across the state.
