The Jeffrey Epstein scandal is as shocking as it is fascinating. Beyond the mysterious billionaire's gross predilections, sadistic sense of interior design, and "private island of sin," the case being built around his alleged underage sex trafficking ring implicates a ton of the well-to-do elite, from presidents to royals. One socialite at the center of it all is Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's ex and "fixer" who apparently worked as his personal madam, helping to secure young girls for him and his famous friends.
Although she's denied any involvement, the 57-year-old British heiress has been named in various civil suits surrounding the allegations against Epstein. His new indictment, however, is sure to shed more light on his associates. Here's everything we currently know about Maxwell.
Update: As of Thursday, July 2nd, nearly a year after this article was published, Maxwell has been arrested on charges related to Epstein's sex ring. The indictment includes "enticing minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity, two conspiracy counts related to those charges and two counts of perjury."
