The newest restaurant from the
Fatty Crew Hospitality Group in partnership with
Top Chef contestant Leah Cohen is the casually cool restaurant situated on the LES. Offering South Asian inspired cuisine borrowing from the medley of flavors found in Thai and Filipino food, Pig & Khao offers diners new sensations in what can sometimes become another monotonous food trend. The restaurants' Filipino influences are of particular interest, as there are still few Filipino influenced restaurants on the culinary horizon. Dishes such as Crispy Quail Adobo (Szechuan peppercorn coconut vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaves, crispy garlic, scallion, and soft boil quail egg) paired with everything from a cheap canned beer to a large Hong Kong style option (served in small bowls and shared) keep things interesting. The wine cocktails and self-serve bottomless beer tap in the backyard (during the warmer months) make this place a must-go for those seeking a fun relaxed date vibe.
