Jacob's Pickles
The modern-rustic interior at Jacob’s Pickles on the Upper West Side is the perfect downtown setting for some comfort food and craft beer. Their specialty? You guessed it: pickles. Pickled beets, carrots, tomatoes, and more come served in a jar and really are the centerpiece of the eating experience here. But if brine based items aren’t your thing (which they really should be but who are we to judge?), then try their other notable specialties like a BBQ smothered pepper jack buttermilk fried chicken sandwich brought together by a freshly baked biscuit ($15) or shrimp and bacon grits made from whole, wild shrimp, nitrate-free bacon and organic cheese grits ($21), which is guaranteed to stick to your ribs. Want something slightly lighter? The grit crusted fried green tomatoes served with house picnic sauce ($9) are a hit. Don’t forget to grab a few domestic, craft brews while you’re chowing down on some home cooked grub that’s sure to put you into a coma.
