Cannes, France
Film festival or not, Cannes is a dream. To say the South of France oozes storied class and exquisiteness is an understatement. When here, amble down Boulevard de La Croisette — a beachfront avenue with every designer store under the sun, from Chanel to Prada (the people-watching here is above par) — as well as a plethora of chic restaurants, including LUIGI, a swanky 1950s-style supper club with nightly entertainment and brasserie fare. Come summer, the beach here is a Mediterranean delight.
No matter the season, and while it might not be beach weather in the winter, Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes never goes out of style: Its restaurant Fouquet’s New York, Biologique Recherche-equipped Spa Diane Barrière, ritzy interior, and of course, The Christian Dior Suite — which includes a Louis XVI-era table, Hungarian herringbone floors, and Dior-designed red sofa cushions in a shade Christian himself invented in 1947 — are a few reasons why.
