The Glamorous Real-Life Inspiration Behind Netflix's "Rebecca"

Daphne Du Maurier was born in London in 1907 to prominent actor and manager Sir Gerald du Maurier and actress Muriel Beaumont. She grew up surrounded by celebrities and theater stars, thanks to her father, and was introduced to Tallulah Bankhead whom she described as "the most beautiful creature she had ever seen" (a quote she'd later insert into her novel in reference to the titular Rebecca).
