With this year's Emmy Awards upon us, we've been thinking a lot about how important television has been to us over the past few months. Seriously, imagine quarantine without binge-watching. But while we celebrate amazing writing, acting, and storytelling, we can't forget costume design. As any fashionista knows, wardrobe is essential to the building of a character: wigs, hats, graphic tees, ripped jeans, red lipstick, an a-line purple suit, even suspenders. What we especially love about costume design for television is the way it's used to not only illustrate a character's personality, but to show their growth from season to season.
It comes as no surprise that the following shows have been nominated on the basis that both the acting and writing is original, funny, and absolutely addicting. But these shows would be incomplete without the help of talented costume designers who bring the characters to life. From Insecure to Schitt's Creek, click through for our favorite shows' behind-the-scenes style stars who deserve all the recognition.
