Schitt's Creek and Debra Hanson: Debra Hanson was the 2020 recipient for her outstanding work on the popular series Schitt's Creek at the Costume Designers Guild Awards.
Hanson zeroes in on the character’s personalities, mannerisms, and follows each character arc from season one to six. She is intentional with her choices in creating her vision and aligning that vision with the show’s plotline. Hanson has described her role as "[facilitating] the vision of the writer, director, and actor for each character, so what the costume designer does is try to follow the arc of that character.” One only needs to look at Moira Rose's wardrobe to see the genius of Hanson's work.
